Happy 1st Birthday Skylee!

I can't believe it has already been a year!!!!!!! From 8 lbs 2 oz. to 24 lbs. It's been a year of growth! Physically and spiritually. Happy Birthday Skylee! Wow what a whirl wind of a year it has been! Readjusting to the baby stage has been .....well....let's just say it's been an adventure! But mainly because we are pulled in so many directions. Having a baby with a teenager and 2 others not very far behind keeps us running. Skylee has been such a good baby to go with the flow. And we just can't get enough kisses on those chunk-a-monk- cheeks.
Her favorite thing to say right now is Na, na, na..... (NO,no,no) Probably because that's what we say A LOT lately. She loves to go where she's not supposed to, and get into everything! Ahhh, our little explorer! She also says Nana (bannana) one of her favorites! That, and nums as she calls them (anything sweet!) Her other favorite thing to eat is spagetti. So that's what she ate for her birthday dinner tonight. Between that and her cake, it was a night full of squishy messes which she loved!
Thankfully she has taken her time learning to walk! She learned how to crawl forward, pull herself up to things, and go up the stairs all in the same day. Literally! That keeps on our toes as it is. But it wont be long before she's running everywhere. We are so blessed to have you!

We took the tram up to the top It was soooo cold up there!!!! But beautiful!

There were so many wild flowers!!!! it was so pretty!

Instead of taking the tram back down, we hiked down to the chair lift. That was exciting!!!! Brylinn had a blast!!!!! that's a whole different story though..... Hahahahaha! We love you Bry!

Ok so, it's been wayyyyy too long since I've updated the blog right? So much has happened namely the addition to our family.... but it would take me forrrevvverrrr to put it all up. I'll do a special recap of Skylee on her first birthday in Dec. Soooooo, I'll just start with some highlights from this summer. We had Josh (Heather's son) here for about a month and we got together a lot to have some fun.

Kelly Clarkson Concert

So I took Bry to the Kelly Clarkson Concert for her Birthday. It was such a blast! We had VIP tickets so we we right in front.
We had to bundle up pretty good it had been pouring rain all week. But if let up a little bit during the concert thank goodness!

These guys were the opening act. They are Imagine Dragons a new upcoming band. They just moved to Vegas and are cutting a record down there. Pretty funny guys..... They picked Bry right up.

Temple celebration

This is Bry, one of her best best friends Melanie, her dad, (Stake Pres.) and her brother. They were able to perform for our Prophet President Monson at the conference center for the Oquirrh
Mountain Temple celebration. It was such an incredible experience. She was one of the dancers. Their group did a Native American dance. The Celebration went throughout he history of Utah starting with the Indians all the way through today with singing and dancing. The spirit was soooo strong! As we were waiting for it to begin, President Monson walked in everyone stood and a small section of the youth choir started to sing We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet. It slowly spread through the whole congregation. I tear up just thinking about it! Throughout the whole performance, you could feel the spirit so strong. It was amazing. It was an incredible experience just watching it. I can't imagine performing in it. Brylinn was right in the front row and Pres. Monson waved to her. I am so grateful she had that opportunity!!!!! Man this church is so true!

Second Competition of the season

This was the second competition of the year. Almost all of them took first and even got 5 grand champions. They were so excited! We were a little nervous for the mirror dance and had a few technical difficulties before they went on,because they had just finished learning the dance and didn't have time to clean it. But they did great and got first and will do even better next time. Great job girls!

So, last week we (Shad's company) had a really big interview with a new line you may have heard of, Pilgrims Pride Chicken. Shad has been trying to get this line for soooo long, and he finally convinced them to interview the market again. We had the interview last week and just heard today that WE GOT IT!!!!! This is huge!!!! It's the largest chicken company in the world, and we represent them now. WHOOO HOOOO!!!!!! It makes a huge statement for our company and it's really rewarding for Shad since he's bought and taken over his Dad's company. This is something that HE did. He earned this! We know we have been so blessed, and know that the Lord has answered our prayers. Congratulations honey! You are awesome!

I took this with my regular camera because we don't have a digital one yet. So it's not the best filming ever. That and we weren't in the best spot, but it's better than nothing. The girls took 2nd place. We were so proud! About half of the girls got moved up to this team right in the middle of the season, so they didn't have very long to learn the dance. I think they did awesome!

The girls dance was to Disturbia by Rhianna, so we did their hair like punk zombies. It took two hours to get all of them done. It was so fun though. I love this stuff! Brylinn is taking pictures for me because I was so busy doing hair. I wish I could have gotten more of her.

Last week we took a trip to Colorado to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. It was such a blast! We recreated their wedding reception. They were totally surprised!
I stole their temple from their china cabinet to put on top of their cake. It was their origional cake topper.

We decorated it just likr they did at their reception 50 years ago.

It has been way too long since I've added anything to my Blog! So sorry. Life has been a huge roller coaster this past month! Lots of ups and downs, but good growing experiences. If I've learned nothing else this past month it is that the Lord knows what is best. Yes we have our agency to choose ultimately, but the choices we make can either make us grow and help us to become who the Lord knows we are and can be, or we can choose not to progress and maybe head down another path where we might not be as happy in the end. This past month I got a doozy that is not only changing my life, but the life of our whole family. It will definitely be a struggle and a test of faith, but one that will hopefully bring a ton of happiness as well. We're going for it!!!!

Shad's Birthday was Nov. 11. Happy Birthday Honey! It was a blast literally! He got a gun! Yikes. But no worries we have all the safety precautions. Which brings us to Thanksgiving. What a feast! We all went to Shad's parents house, and ate and ate and ate! Top row, Aspen, Buggy(Alex), Emily, and Libby.

Next we have Joshua's 11th Birthday. This is our nephew(Shad's sister's son)

There we were hanging out at the scarecrow festival and who did we run into? Former NBA star Shawn Bradly. All 7'6" of him. He was so great! he hung out with us for like 20 minutes. He works for the Westridge academy now that he's retired. It's a school for delinquent boys and girls. They put on the scarecrow festival as a fund raiser. It's so fun and it's getting huge ( no pun intended hee hee). A man in our ward is the head of the school, so we go every year. So we ran into Shawn, and talked for a while , took some pictures, got some autographs. Sooo fun! he's so nice! His wife is 5'4". Crazy! and they have 6 kids. WOW! Kris and her kids came too. We had a blast! Thanks for hangin' with us Shawn! Boston was in heaven!

So for my birthday, Shad's parents gave me a front yard makeover!!! These pictures don't really do it justice. They got so many flowers and shrubs!!!! I couldn't believe it. The yard looks soooo great now. Thanks Mom and Dad! That was so generous. I love it!!!

On my actual birthday, Shad had a business retreat to kick off the ski resort season at Sundance That he had to do. So I got to join him over night. It just so happened that that my parents were in town and offered to stay with the kids so I could go. A big thank you to you guys.

I got a pedicure at the spa that's up there and just relaxed and enjoyed the colors which were stunning! This was the view from our room/cabin. Then we had an amazing dinner and got to watch a movie in Robert Redfords theater room. Very cool! But no, he wasn't there.

This is the cabin we stayed in. Very niiiice.I even sold some of my jewelry while I was up there. The Vice President of Cambell's was there and she commented on the jewelry that I was wearing and wanted to know where I got it. Long story short. She ordered the set I was wearing. The cool thing is that she lives in Orange County and is friends with some pretty famous and affluent people. Hopefully word will spread and things will take off. I just finished taking pictures for the web site so things should start moving along. I hope.
Anyway, Thanks to my family for a great birthday! I love you.

A quick trip to St. George

Yesterday I took a really fast trip to St. George to see Justin play soccer for BYU Hawaii. I met Jill, Carrie, Shari, and her kids down there. It was such a blast! When I got into town, I saw a huge group of guys walking down the street, and I thought.... hey I think that's.... Hey Justin!!!! I pulled over by him and sure enough, it was the team. They were all walking to find some lunch. So I got to join them. It was so great visiting with Justin. Then Jill got into town and we hung out until the game. BYU HAWAII SEASIDERS!!!! WOOOHOOOO!
Of course Emily was all smiles!!! She always is.
Justin did so great! way to go bud! Kill em' in San Fran Baby!

Ok, my friend Nikki just tagged me, so now I have to list 6 random things about me.( Sorry I'm a little late) I have to really think about this one.

1. I love to be with my family. Immediate, or extended. We don't even have to be doing anything. Just sitting there, being together. I love it!
2. My favorite color is green. It's so refreshing.
3. I absolutely love to dance. I see my girls up there dancing and I get so jealous.
4. I hate pessimists! Come on people! Think positive!!!! The world would be such a happier place.
5. I am the biggest daddy's girl ever! He is my hero. (My mom is pretty incredibly awesome too)
6. I still love to watch cartoons. I can quote almost any Disney movie. I'm a big kid at heart.

BACK TO SCHOOL!!!!!!!

Brylinn and Boston went back to school Aug.18th. These are the kids they walk with every morning. Brylinn, Matthew, Boston, Jeren, Aspen, Paul.

It's Brylinn's last year of elementary, but it's Aspen's first. She started a week after the other kids because of kindergarten assessment. She tested to the middle of first grade. What a smarty pants!
She was so brave! She didn't even look back. I'm so excited for her but man my heart is breaking!

High Adventure Scout Camp!

Shad is the Young Men's President, so he had to go to scout camp with the boys for a whole week. It was in the High Unitas. Unfortunately Shad didn't take any pictures with him in them, but here are some of the boys, doing some of the activities. They did rock climbing, swimming, gun shooting, kayaking, mountain biking, then an overnight backpacking hike that was about 12 miles or so I think. They also had team building games and fun stuff like that.

Shad was exhausted by the end. He had to do everything that the boys did, but I think he had a great time.

I, on the other hand, missed him like crazy! They didn't have cell reception up there, so we couldn't talk all week. So I got Stephanie Myers latest book Breaking Dawn and read it two days! Man those books are addicting. I have to say, I loved the ending.

So, one last week until school starts....... I'm ready for getting back on schedule, but not for homework!!!! YUCK.

All the adults went to the temple to do a session and the youth did baptisms. It was so awesome!!! Then after, we went to the church for dinner, games and dancing. We had a great time. Me and my Dad. He's so awesome!!!

There were so many toads at Chatfield! they were everywhere! the kids had a blast catching them. They caught like fifty of the little baby ones they were the size of a dime. Troy, Aspen, and Brent.
Bryce brought his creepy crawly guys with him one night. This is Bandy the banded king snake I think. I can't keep them all straight. But Aspen loved them all. She wanted to hold them all night.

Boston got to hold the bearded dragons. Like the ones on holes.
This one is pina colada. That is one big python!!!!
It could eat Aspen in one gulp. Thankfully she didn't. Again, Aspen loved it.

Colorado was a BLAST!

The reunion in Colorado was so much fun!!! A big thank you to Shari, Bryce, and everyone else who helped put it together. We went to Chatfield Reservoir and caught bugs, and toads, went boating, played and ate a ton!!!!!
The kids had a blast with all their cousins. Bry, Bos, and Jake.
Bryce provided the entertainment of course! We hunted for prizes hidden in saw dust. Kids went first.
Then the adults had a chance! It was so funny!!!!

For Aspen's Birthday, we went to a place called Bounce U. It was such a blast! Even Grandma and Grandpa were bouncing.
All the guys played a game of horse.

We all were dead tired after. It was such a workout! There was a really fun obstacle course that we all raced through. Boston smoked us all!

Ok we are a little late posting, but our computer died. Now we have our new computer and we are set to go.
Boston and his buddies were so excited that school was almost over! They all got some great awards. Boston got straight A's and was one of two kids to get and award for math because they passed off all the the math facts addition-division. He got 1/4 of the year off of timed tests because he passed them off so fast. He did not get that from me!
Here are most of Bostons best friends from the Left, Spencer, Braden, Parker, Boston, Justin. They are a great group of kids!!!
Brylinn got a bunch of awards at her assembly too. Straight A's for her as well. These are some of her friends too. From the left, Taylor, Claire, Sydnee, Layla, And Bry.
Claire and Brylinn did a dance for their talent show. People ask us if they are twins. They spend enough time together, they might as well be.

We had a great time on the fourth. It started out with an early breakfast up Big Cottonwood Canyon with Shad's family. And silly me I forgot the camera! :( But we had a ton of fun with great food, throwing rocks in the river, hiking, and visiting. Then we headed back to Shad's parents house to spend the rest of the day. I took the kids swimming while everyone else relaxed. The weather was great!!! Then we headed back to the house for a huge water fight with the whole family. Water balloons, super soakers, buckets, you name it. We all got soaked. Then we had a yummy BBQ and relaxed until it was time for the fireworks. We headed over to the Sandy City Center to see the show. It was pretty good, but I still haven't seen a show as good as the ones in Denver.

Now we are getting ready for the girls to start dance camp, and Boston starts the Jr.PGA league on Tues. We can't wait to head for Denver for the Jackman family reunion in a few weeks. It will be so good to see everyone! I'll remember to bring my camera this time:)

Well, Shad got home from the hospital one week ago today, and is recovering from his appendectomy pretty well. Although trying to keep him from working too hard is next to impossible. He gets tired pretty quick still but the pain is pretty manageable. What a way to start off the Summer Eh?
We can't wait for the kids last day of school on Tues. This last week of school has been kind of a joke. All they do is play, play, play. Just filling time. But they did so well this year! Both Brylinn and Boston got straight A's! We are so proud of them. They worked really hard. I'll post pictures as soon as I get a new computer. Our other one broke after only one year!!!! of course it was after the year warranty. Aren't we lucky?!?! We were pretty upset about the whole thing. But we will be getting one soon. So for now we are using Shad's work computer.
We hope everyone has fun plans for the 4th!!!!!

Girls night!!!!

Since the Disney channel was having the premere of the new movie Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers, we decided make it a party and invite Brylinn and Aspens friends over.
Ok the girls went NUTS!!!!! they all love the Jonas Brothers.....So they loved the movie! They had pizza and treats, then ran through the sprinklers, jumped on the tramp, and played, played , played!
Aspen and Sydnee had a great time too!
After the movie and sprinklers, I took them over to the park across the street to play some more!!!
Needless to say, they had a blast!
So where were the boys while all this was going on? Well, as soon as they saw how out numbered they were, Shad grabbed Boston and ran! They went to do manley things like seeing Iron man, and going to pick out a baseball bat and mit. It's a good thing they had a fun night, because little did we know that Shad was about to have a severe attack of the appendix. Early Saturday morning, Shad woke up with a horrible pain in his stomach. After debating what it might be for a couple of hours, we decided to take him to the hospital. Sure enough, he had to get his appendix out. What a bummer. Poor guy. Thanks a ton to Grandma and Grandpa Douglas for taking the kids. The surgery went well, it wasn't ruptured,so he should heal pretty quick. We hope. Hes just had to stay one night and now we are home trying to get him better. Thank goodness for modern medicine!!!!! Get better soon honey! We love you.

Yea! our new nephew and cousin has arrived!!!!! Parker Wade Douglas was born to Zac and Leslee June 12th weighing only 6lbs.2oz. he is so tiny! What a sweet little boy. Brylinn, Boston, and Aspen are so excited to have a new little cousin. Any time you need a babysitter guys....... What a great family!!!! Congratulations guys!

Boston is finishing up 2nd grade and was the only one to get an award in his class for passing off his addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. He is a wiz at math. (thank goodness for me) Aspen had her preschool graduation last month and can't wait to start kindergarten! She is so ready, She's been reading for about a year and is doing math timed tests. I can't keep up with her. She also had her first year of dance. She is so flexible! she already does all 3 splits and bends in half! She loves it. She tried out for competition dance, and made it . It should be fun.

She will be 5 July 18th! and can't wait for her birthday.

We are excited to go to Denver this July for our family reunion and visit with everybody! See you soon guys!!!!

After taking the advice from a friend, I decided to start a blog, so welcome! For those of you who haven't heard from us in a while, let me me fill you in on what's been happening. Shad and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary June 1st. We had a great time! I can't believe it's already been 12 years. What a great time we've had together.
Shad is still working his tail off running his company Sales West Marketing.(it's a food brokerage firm for those of you who don't know, and if you don't know what that is, well...... it's too long to explain)He is also the Young Men's president in our ward at church. He works with the 16-18 year old boys. They've been busy with sending missionaries off, graduations, and gearing up for the high adventure camp. Hopefully he'll get some time to play golf again.......Someday.
As for me, I'm loving being mom! Between taking care of the house, helping with homework, Boston's games, and the girls dance, I keep pretty busy. We also spend a lot of time driving around.
But now that I have a cool new fuel efficient car, I don't mind so much. It doesn't have as much space, but it sure saves on gas. And it's not too bad to look at either.I also help out with the scouts. I'm the wolf den leader. We have a great group of boys, and it's fun to have Boston in my group too. When I'm not doing all of that, I make jewelry. I'm just getting started on my collection to start selling. It's called Chelle*D. I do all types of jewelry, and have a line for babies and little girls too. So keep an eye out for it!
As for Brylinn, she turned 11 last month. YIKES! I can't believe how old she is getting. She is officially old enough to babysit her siblings. YEA! She is doing a great job. She's just finishing up 5th grade and moving on to rule the school as a 6th grader. She was in competition dance this year and did a great job. Her team took first place in every competition they were in this year. We are so proud of her.
Boston is 8 1/2 now and loving his sports! He plays anything with a ball, well except soccer. He did that for a while and was really good, but found that his favorites are football, basketball, baseball, and golf.
